
In the first five months of this year, the printing and dyeing industry showed a steady recovery trend. Production and sales volumes grew consistently, with major economic indicators showing a year-on-year increase, even though their growth rates declined slightly from the first quarter.
**Industry Performance Overview – Production and Sales**
By May, there were 2,320 large-scale printing and dyeing enterprises operating in China, an increase of 19 compared to the same period last year. The output of printed and dyed fabrics from these enterprises reached 21.658 billion meters, up 16.07% year-on-year. While the growth rate dropped by 11.57 percentage points from January to February, it still accelerated by 14.66 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
The eastern coastal provinces—Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, and Fujian—accounted for 92.26% of the national total, producing 19.981 billion meters. Zhejiang alone produced 12.336 billion meters, making up 56.96% of the country’s output, with a year-on-year growth of 17.60%. Guangdong saw a significant jump, with output reaching 2.388 billion meters, up 23.80% year-on-year, surpassing Jiangsu for two consecutive quarters.
Jiangsu reported 2.319 billion meters, a 12.56% increase, while Shandong and Fujian recorded 1.643 billion and 1.295 billion meters respectively, with growth rates of 5.91% and 26.59% year-on-year.
**Sales and Revenue Trends**
The production and sales rate for large-scale printing and dyeing enterprises remained high at 97.46%. The industrial output value reached 106.682 billion yuan, up 20.69% year-on-year, while sales value was 103.976 billion yuan, also increasing by 20.61%. Main business revenue stood at 103.063 billion yuan, rising by 22.11%. Export delivery value increased by 12.7% year-on-year.
**Investment Activity**
From January to May, large-scale printing and dyeing enterprises invested 3.496 billion yuan, a slight increase of 0.21% year-on-year. The growth rate slowed down by 1.02 percentage points from January to February, falling behind the textile industry's investment growth. In May, 176 construction projects were underway, a 5.39% rise year-on-year, while 99 new projects were started, up 30.26%. Thirty-one projects were completed, representing a 6.90% increase.
Overall, the printing and dyeing sector continued to show resilience and adaptability, reflecting broader trends in China’s manufacturing landscape.
