Teijin enters the field of sportswear with the new Deltapeak fabric

The Japanese Teijin company, which is known for its textiles and fibers, has developed a new functional fabric that can be used in sportswear. The company says it can be used as a substitute for cotton in sweatshirts. Teijin Frontier, a company transformed by the Teijin Group's fiber products division, said it will release the latest line of sportswear made with Deltapeak fabrics in the Ming (2018) autumn and winter collections. It is estimated that by the end of March 2019, the company's annual sales will reach 500,000 meters. Thanks to the patent-pending four-layer structure and the different densities between the skin and the middle, new sportswear fabrics have been developed that combine high absorbency with fast drying. It is designed to provide high cushioning and elasticity of body, functionality and quality, and is highly compatible. Teijin added that the fabric is expected to meet the needs of a variety of applications in casual, functional synthetic materials to replace cotton. Looking ahead, Teijin Frontier hopes to combine this new fabric with other versatile materials for sportswear, fashion, uniforms and other applications. Teijin revealed that in the (2016) year, the polyester fiber and product business transformation was merged to increase the competitiveness and growth prospects of the two units, including a reliable supply chain for garment applications.
