On December 27, 2009, the finals of the "2009 National College Children's Wear Design Competition" concluded, marking a significant step forward for Foshan's children's clothing industry. According to reports, several key platforms aimed at upgrading and transforming the sector have been completed, with foundational work already in place. This signals a new phase of high-level development for Foshan’s children's wear industry.
During the event, the second general election of the Foshan Children's Wear Industry Association was announced. The association, now operating under the leadership of local government guidance, has played a vital role in promoting the industry. Over the past seven years, it has helped Foshan gain recognition as "China's Children's Wear Town" and produced the first national list of top ten children's wear designers. It has also released the "China Children's Wear Fashion Trends" and compiled the first comprehensive "China Children's Wear Industry Research Report." These efforts have significantly contributed to talent development, brand building, and industry promotion.
Cao Yunfeng, chairman of Carl Footwear Co., Ltd., was re-elected as the president of the association. As an external investor who moved into Foshan's children's wear market, his leadership reflects the government's continued confidence in the sector. The re-election also highlights the growing importance of the industry and its potential for future growth.
In addition, during the finals, the Chancheng District Foshan Changshi Children's Wear Innovation Center, a government-funded institution, signed cooperation agreements with six leading fashion colleges across the country. The partnerships involve innovation centers, enterprises, research institutions, and design students, aiming to create a platform for innovation and creativity in the children's fashion industry. These collaborations will bring together fashion resources, creative talents, and R&D capabilities, driving the industry's transformation and development.
The participating universities include South China Agricultural University College of Art, Guangdong Vocational College of Light Industry, Guangzhou Science and Technology Trade Vocational College, Guangdong Textile Vocational College, Dalian University of Technology Arts and Engineering Information College, and South China Agricultural University Zhujiang College. Partner companies include Foshan Carlfitt Garments Co., Ltd. and Jinlaniya Garments Co., Ltd.
