Hello and welcome to the Gallery Tunic + Dress Sew-along!

I’m Lori, and I’ve spent my entire life in Missouri. Ever since I started sewing back in 7th grade home ec, I’ve been completely obsessed. We were tasked with making an apron, and I fell in love. My mom was such a great teacher, always patiently undoing my mistakes until I got it right!

I'm proud to be part of the Mood Sewing Network and IndieSew Blogger Team. Being involved with these communities means a lot to me.

For this Gallery project, I’m going with the tunic version, complete with long sleeves, cuffs, and a collar. I’m using a beautiful Donna Karan rayon fabric from Mood Fabrics and some buttons I already had in my stash. I also plan to find a floral fabric that complements the rayon and use it for the cuff lining.

Happy sewing!

And now, as I sit here reflecting on how much joy sewing brings me, I can’t help but think about the countless hours I’ve spent perfecting my craft. From those early days in school to the more intricate projects I tackle now, each piece is a testament to my growth as a sewer. There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking raw materials and turning them into something beautiful and functional.

I remember one particular project where I tried something new by experimenting with different types of fabrics and patterns. It wasn’t easy at first, but after a few trials, I finally nailed it. That experience taught me the importance of patience and persistence in sewing. No matter how challenging a project may seem, there’s always a way to make it work if you stay committed.

As we gear up for the sew-along, I hope everyone who joins will feel the same sense of accomplishment that I do every time I finish a project. Sewing isn’t just about creating clothes; it’s about expressing creativity and finding joy in the process. So let’s dive in together and enjoy every step of this journey!
