In a bid to make a striking impression at London Fashion Week, Acne will host its Spring/Summer 2011 collection in a private suite within Kensington Palace—once the home of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon. The location was discovered by creative director Jonny Johansson during a visit to the palace's garden. "As I walked through the back office, I noticed an open door," he recalls. "Inside was a small room with a deep green hue that immediately caught my attention. The colors were incredibly powerful and appealing."
Acne, a renowned Swedish casual brand famous for its denim, is set to debut its first T-Taiwan release show on September 19 during London Fashion Week. This marks a significant step in the brand’s global expansion. Just last month, a new flagship Acne store opened on Dover Street in London, further solidifying the brand’s presence in the city.
The absence of Acne from the recent Stockholm Fashion Week left many in the Swedish fashion scene disappointed. Stockholm had recently joined the ranks of international fashion weeks, alongside New York, Milan, and Berlin. However, it seems that Acne had already been eyeing London, as the brand has previously held smaller showcases there.
This season, while the collection features fewer traditional cowboy pieces, the overall aesthetic still maintains a rugged edge. "We don’t have too many cowboy items this season, but the look remains tough," said Johansson. "There are plenty of transparent and leather elements that add a modern twist."
