Fashion trends: women's wear brand launched men's wear, men's wear design became neutral

In the past two years, designers who have designed fashion for men have become more and more. Even if some fashion brands do not launch men's collections, women's wear is gradually moving towards a neutral style, which is suitable for both men and women.

Celine first launched the men's collection in the spring and summer of 2019 Paris Fashion Week, thanks to the newly appointed creative director Hedi Slimane. Slimane, a former menswear designer for Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, has always preferred to add slim, thin style to menswear. This time, men's wear for Celine is no exception. There are many suit shirts and short leathers in the collection. Jacket and narrow trousers. Even for men's wear, Slimane's men's wear is also very neutral, also suitable for women, and will be available in women's size when next year.

Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung also launched his menswear line of the same name brand in New York Fashion Week in the spring and summer of 2019. Prabal Gurung was founded in 2009. Although it was a women's brand at the beginning, designer Gurung always wanted to design for men, just waiting for the right time.

“Now is a very good time. We are in the era of traditional social roles, gender and gender identity beginning to subvert. More and more men want to express themselves in a more unique and innovative way, and our brand advocates diversity. And inclusive, so we want to expand the brand line and design for men,” Gurung wrote in an email.

Gurung said that the men's wear market has elegant and tailored clothing, as well as street clothing, but it lacks the brand that combines the two. At New York Fashion Week, Gurung's menswear design strives to blend elegance with the street, with delicate cuts with vibrant colors and bold patterns, many of which are inspired by his hometown of Nepal.

The American luxury fashion brand The Row is also a member of the menswear design. The brand was created in 2006 by the designer group Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. The women's style is restrained, the color is carefully used, and the geometric design is incorporated. In 2016, the brand launched a men's capsule series, in order to listen to the opinions of customers, and then combined with customer feedback to launch the men's collection. The Row's men's wear is also the same as that of women's wear, and it's also a restrained, simple but detailed design.

American fashion brand Tibi launched men's wear, because the women's collection has a lot of men love to wear, the brand will simply launch the men's line. The brand, created by Amy Smilovic in 2010, has a simple, casual style with a modern and feminine aesthetic, and Smilovic found that many men are interested in this somewhat feminine style.

“There are a lot of men who wear our women's collections, and we are inspired by their style of dressing,” Smilovic told The Women's Daily. “I also wear men's clothes on my own. I often wear men's and women's clothes because of a shop. I’m confused about showing it separately. I think men’s and women’s wear should be put together.”

At the Spring and Summer of 2019 New York Fashion Week, when Tibi's men's and women's collections were shown together, you really didn't see the difference between the two. The model of the female model does not violate the male model. The pink windbreaker of the male model is also pretty good if the female model is put on. It is no wonder that Smilovic said that he is working in a gender-free environment.

Roopal Patel, fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue boutique department store, said that the current situation of women's designers entering men's wear is not surprising. "From the current cultural environment, the synergy between men's and women's wear on the runway is a natural development," Patel said.
