The porcelain enamel was listed as the first of the five famous porcelains of the Song Dynasty (汝, 官, 钧, 哥, 定) and was the imperial porcelain of the court. One of the distinguishing features of the kiln celadon is that it does not embellish artifacts with cumbersome decorative patterns, but wins with a porcelain glaze. "Such as Yufei jade is better than jade", it has the reputation of "big wealth, not as good as enamel." Li Kui-chung, a famous Chinese painting artist, once sighed: “The innocent people in museums in the world can hardly claim perfection.” The only remaining Northern Song Dynasty official porcelain in the world today is less than 100 pieces, which are housed in the Beijing Palace Museum, the Shanghai Museum, and the Taipei Palace Museum. As a country of origin for enamel, enamel is hailed as “the first of the three treasures” in Zhangzhou and has become a local pride.

The enamel expert Zhu Wenli started from 1989 to early 2000. After more than ten years of hardships, he finally found a real ruins of the official kiln, the ruins of the Northern Song Dynasty kiln, and the early ruins of the Northern Song Dynasty Guan kiln. Zhu Wenli named it as the ruins of the Confucian Temple, the official kiln of Zhanggong Lane, and the site of the Dao Donggou West Kiln. Zhanggong Lane kiln site has been approved by the state as "National key cultural relics protection unit." This finding was repeatedly confirmed by experts at home and abroad and finally established the historical conclusion of Luzhou as the origin of porcelain enamel, a treasure of Chinese civilization. Zhu Wenli's "Yutiantianqing" glaze official porcelain was used as a national ceremony and was given to former Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi, former South Korean President Kim Young-san and former Israeli President Weizman. Deng Yaping, the Olympic table tennis champion, also presented the enamel “Bagua Ding” to the International Olympic Committee’s Samaranch collection. Zhu Wenli and Meng Yusong’s enameled porcelain were selected by the National Palace Museum for their 13 collections.

In 2008, the enamel firing technique was listed as a non-material cultural heritage protection project in Henan Province. In 2010, it was listed as a state-level non-material cultural heritage protection project by the State Council and was selected as a national gift to enter the Shanghai World Expo.
