Recently, the International Fur Association held its annual conference in London, and more than 75% of the member organizations participating in the meeting voted in favor and adopted a series of major changes to the association’s statute.
Under the new statute, the executive council of the association will consist of 7 members from the industry, elected members, and 7 nominated members from auction houses and farmers. The new statute will take effect from the 2011 annual general meeting. The two elected members are from Asia (one of whom must be from China), two from Europe, two from North America, and one from Russia. The length of service of the **, vice officers and members of the board of directors is also determined in the statute. Stressed that there must be a member of the board of directors from China, which reflects the recognition of the importance of the international fur industry for the Chinese market. In addition, the association will add an important position: the chief executive officer will be responsible for supervising the operation of the association, and will mainly support the work of the association in the political sphere. The day-to-day management of the association will still be the responsibility of the executive director. At the annual meeting, Ms. Pirkko Rantanen Kervinen, who has served the international fur industry for 18 years, formally retired from the positions of financial director and executive director of the association. Mr. Steven Hurwitz served as the financial director of the association, and Mr. Pertti Fallenius took over as the Finnish fur auction house.
