The Chinese land and the earth have formed different styles in various regions. In ancient times, jade carvings had the difference between “å—工†and “北工â€, but in modern times, four major schools were formed, representing the advanced level of Chinese jade carving craft. They are "Northern School", "Shanghai School", "South School" and "Yang School". Let's follow the small series to understand these four jade carving genres!

1. Northern School: The style of carving is centered on Beijing and Tianjin. Its style is simple and solemn, noble and elegant. The representative jade carving masters include Pan Bingheng, Liu Dejun, He Rong, Wang Shusen, Zhang Yunhe, etc., and they are collectively referred to as “four stranges and one demonâ€.
2. Shanghai Style: The carving style formed by the Shanghai area. The Shanghai-style jade carvings are more exquisite and expressive, and the carvings are meticulous and varied in shape, flexible and solemn. The main representatives of jade carving are Sun Tianyi, Zhou Shouhai, Liu Jisong and so on.
3. Nanpai: refers to the carving style of Fujian and Guangdong. Unlike the other three, the main materials used are jadeite, which is often carved with hollow sculptures and multi-layer jade balls. Nanpai jade carving art style is unique.
4. Yangpai: The art of jade carving in Yangpai was very prosperous in ancient times, especially in the Qing Dynasty. It is the center of jade carving in the Qing Dynasty. Therefore, the Yangpai jade carving centered on Yangzhou is profound, and it is most famous for its mountain carving. Many jade carvings are collected for the National Museum.
