Diamond's fluorescence level

Fluorescence refers to the intensity of colored light such as blue or yellow light that a diamond emits under intense ultraviolet light. Under natural light, people can't feel it, unless there is a strong fluorescent diamond in the strong summer sun, the naked eye can feel the presence of fluorescence. But almost all minerals, including diamonds, emit fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light, ranging from light blue to dark blue, or yellow or red. About 40%-60% of diamonds emit fluorescence when exposed to more than 366 nanometers of ultraviolet light, and some diamonds also emit fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light at 254 nanometers. When the diamond releases light blue fluorescence, the pale yellow background will cancel out the light blue fluorescence regardless of its clarity. Similarly, in the process of photo processing, yellow can be offset by adding blue.

The GIA's standards for fluorescence from low to high are: none, faint, mediumblue, mediumyellow, mediumblue, strongblue, strongyellow Equal level.

In addition to the GIA standards, there are some organizations that adopt this level: none, negligible, faint, small, significant, strong, strong ( Extremely strong).
